Out and about today, I made my way along to the Greenwich Olympics venue to see how it is all going. This venue is situated in the wonderful setting of Greenwich Royal Park. No chance of getting in without a ticket as this part of Greenwich Park is closed off to the public. Tickets Only! Plenty of security too – police, army and Olympic security staff all busy handling the crowd.
I approached from the Blackheath direction and saw the venue from across the open space of Blackheath. Crowds of people made their way from Blackheath village, walking across newly laid yellow brick paths to the Greenwich Olympics 2012 venue. Brilliant day for the equestrian events. The Greenwich Venue holds 23,000 spectators. Wow!! Small village – lots of people.
Crowd handling appears very good, as spectators have been diverted from London through either Blackheath or Greenwich. This minimises the amount of people in one place at a time. I watched the staggered flow of people arriving before the start of the event. And of course if you were not sure where to go A Helping Hand was there to point the way.
Such a great sensation to photograph freely, without being stopped. At last a sensible approach to photography during a World Class Sporting Event. Let the photographs be published online and everyone can share the amazing street photography and events happening during London Olympics 2012. Go London Go!
