Golden Glow Through The Trees

Autumn in Greenwich Park

Golden Glow Through The Trees

Another Autumn day in the Park and the light is gently filtered.  As I make my way I come to a clearing which is illuminated by golden light.  I look as see a wave of gold in front of me and as I gaze I see thousands of leaves filling the air around me.  They are golden and glow through the trees.  I look down at my feet and golden hues are reflected on the path.  I look and see its colouration on my hands and I anticipate my face is golden too.  Continue reading »

Yellow Autumn

Yellow Autumn Leaves

Yellow Leaves of Autumn Revealed Through the Mist

I love the quiet which the Park brings to my day.  As I walk I see this view which stretches across the Park.  The mist is haunting as it slowly reveals the yellow leaves of Autumn behind its veil.

This is a view to linger on, taking time to see each nuance of colour, detail, atmosphere and sublime textures of this day.

In the distance I see two people walking a dog and a third following slowly behind.  Continue reading »

Entering Autumn

Greenwich Park at Autumn

Gateway to Autumn; all is yellow ochre, soft green and orange mists.

Today in the Park I marvel at the vibrant bursts of colour; yellows, orange, reds and light green. Autumn is underway and as I walk I see leaves falling softly as the wind blows through the trees.

I walk a fair distance and see how people interact with Autumn.  Continue reading »

Leaves Take on the Colours of Autumn

Beautiful Autumn Colours Glow in Seasonal Mists

Seasons change and in the Park leaves turn golden and copper and I can see Autumn colours everywhere.  This is a season I love to photograph especially when gentle mists blow in.  Today is no exception, and as I make my way through the Park I hear leaves crunch underfoot.  It was only a few weeks ago and leaves were still green covering branches.  Continue reading »

Walking in Light

The Flower Garden in Light

Iris Flowers Tempting Light

Light Colours of the Iris

Today the light in the Flower Garden is amazing.  I make my way through the park looking for illumination…and I come across a planting of Irises which are temptingly still in bud.  Their colours are just starting to show through their buds.  Light is illuminating the whole of their surface Continue reading »

Flower Garden About to Bloom

Macro Photography

Iris Flower about to Bloom

I can’t resist the Flower Garden as the summer flowers are about to bloom.  Today the sun is shining and I know I can capture intense colours where green is greener than green!  I love the sensation of rich deep colour as flowers burst through their pods to create the most stunning blooms.  Continue reading »

Spring Has Sprung

Signs of Spring

Spring Buds

Flowering Blossom Buds Waiting to Bloom

There has been a change in the life of the Park.  Today I noticed that buds are getting ready for their time to bloom.  The Park has awakened from its winter sleep and is stirring with new life.  This is an exciting time of change and one which I eagerly await.  I love the life in the Park as she goes through her seasonal changes.  Every day has something to admire and wonder at its gentle beauty.  Here the blossom trees are getting ready to bloom, soft buds reaching up towards the light.  Already you can see Continue reading »

Ancient Trees in Greenwich Park

Walking Amongst Ancient Trees

Today in the park I came across a grassy sloping area of Old Trees. Ancient were their barks, knotted and gnarled as they grow. The trees are ancient, time has passed and they twist to find light to nurture their growth. The day has a slight mist, with light gently filtered. I walk through the wet grass and can feel the softness of the earth underfoot. Continue reading »

Sculptural Form of Trees

Photographing Sculptural Forms

Today in the park I came across a grand tree which is tall in stature reaching up towards the sky.  The tree was so tall I had to tilt my head right back to admire its stretch.  The top of the tree trunk was broken, perhaps a storm or lightning strike.  I look up and admire, seeing all the branches stretching towards the light.  I love the textures of the trunk, quite gnarled in places.  This tree has been here for a long time and stands silently watching life as it passes by.  The branches and trunk are sculptural in form.  I still stop, looking up enjoying what I see. The Colours of Autumn

Photographing the Colours of Autumn

It was one of those days when you first head out the light is filtered and just right for getting the best colours of autumn. Arriving at the location the light changed and suddenly everything is dull and flat. Not to be put off I frame a few shots always looking up at the sky. Cloud is dense and the chance of the sun filtering through seemed for another day. I didn’t want to miss this day of photography though, as the trees still have leaves and I want to capture the colours of autumn. Continue reading »
